Gestern habe ich die erste Karte in meinem neuen Reich gewerkelt. Es hat etwas länger gedauert als gewöhnlich, weil ich mich noch daran gewöhnen muss, wo die Dinge, die ich am häufigsten benutze, jetzt verstaut sind, aber es hat ungeheuren Spaß gemacht. Erschreckenderweise musste ich kurz nachdem ich die Karte fertiggestellt hatte feststellen, dass meine liebe DT-Kollegin Amy unabhängig von mir fast genau dieselbe Szene gestaltet und auf ihrem Instagram-Account gepostet hat. Yesterday I created the first card in my new craft room. It took me a bit longer than usual because I still have to get used to where I put the things I need most for crafting. Nonetheless, I had so much fun doing it. Unfortunately, I had to realize that my DT mate Amy created nearly the same scene for one of her cards, which she posted on Instagram yesterday shortly after I had finished my card. Weil ich euch im Moment nichts anderes zeigen kann, habe ich mit entschlossen, die Karte trotzdem zu posten und hoffe, dass Amy mir nicht böse ist. Während sie ihre Szene mit Buntstiften koloriert hat, habe ich Aquarellfarben für den Hintergrund und Copics für den kleinen Lesehasen verwendet.
However, I decited to show you my card anyway, as I don't have anything else to share presently. And I hope Amy will understand. While she colored her scene with colored pencils I used watercolors for the background and Copics for the cute reading bunny.

Wie schon auf dieser Karte habe ich mir die Farben für den Hintergrund aus dem Essentials-Set von Daniel Smith selbst zusammengemischt. Lange Zeit habe ich mich nicht an das Selbermischen herangetraut, aber nachdem ich es jetzt einmal ausprobiert habe, bin ich ganz angetan davon, zu sehen, was für wunderschöne natürliche Farben dabei herauskommen können. Fall ihr euch einmal mit dem Selbstanmischen von Farben beschäftigen wollt, schaut euch unbedingt dieses Video von Sandy Allnock an. Darin zeigt sie, wie man eine auf Grundfarben basierende Farbtabelle erstellt, die einem als Anfänger beim Mischen wirklich gute Dienste leisten kann.
As on this card I mixed all the colors I used for my background myself utilizing nothing but the six different colors from Daniel Smith's Essentials set. For quite some time I did not dare to mix my own colors but after I've started to do so I must admit that I'm quite impressed at how natural they look when they're individually mixed. Should you be interested to try this yourself I highly recommend you watch this video by Sandy Allnock. In there she explains how to create basic color swatches which are totally useful for beginners.
